IMPORTANT: Andrea also wants to draw your attention to "Boiler Room Fraud" in which countless mostly older folk (the main target group) have been sold shares in bogus companies.
You and Yours on BBC Radio 4 on 23/06/11 had an item on this. CLICK HERE NOW to hear it on BBC iPlayer!
Note: The item starts 25 minutes in and lasts about 30 minutes.

ALSO PLEASE SEE: "Boiler Room Scams" an HSBC document about this fraud by going back to Past Meeting Notes, scroll down to the file called: 2011_06_John Hale_Boiler Room Scams.pdf

Two further cons/scams were highlighted during our June meeting:

Janet Clark: Application for a new E111, now called EHIC - European Health Insurance Card.
This con was highlighted in an article in the Daily Mail on 2nd July 2011. You can see it HERE

Geoff Lonsdale: Pointed out to be wary of bogus computer "help" offered by cold callers over the phone.
ComputerActive has an article and audio recording of this scam taking place: CLICK HERE to see (and hear!) it.
